Qualifications
1.) Selected by the Willamette Medical Teams Board of Directors
2.) Participated in at least two previous WMT trips
3.) Committed Christian
4.) Leadership and shepherding ability
5.) Ability to make joint decisions with others in leadership
6.) Ability to submit to team ministry
Responsibilities
1) Shepherd the flock.
2) Be a good example to those under his/her authority.
3) Meet with the WMT Board weekly beginning three weeks before the seminar and continuing weekly until departure and one week aft the return.
4) Lead or co-lead team seminars.
5) Supervise transit of team and supplies to and from the host country.
6) Supervise the team during:
- In-country transit
- Clinic set-up and operation
- Recreational time
- All times!
7) Provide health care for team members either through his/her skills or designated team doctor.
8) Together with the other co-leader(s) and missionary staff make necessary decisions regarding the team’s location, movement, transportation, emergency contingencies and scope of the medical clinic.
9) Insure that only medical treatment of the highest quality and standard of medical practice be provided by his/her team. All major medical procedures and surgeries require his/her approval.
10) With the other leadership conduct team meetings and make work assignments.
11) Assess inventory of medications and supplies and adjust utilization accordingly with consultation from other leadership staff.
12) In conjunction with other leadership staff determines clinic hours of operation.
13) Supervise and oversee work of team pastor, nursing supervisor, and team medical director if these positions exist.
14) At the end of team, report the team’s experience to the Board – include presentation of inventory and financial accounts.
