As a nurse with the team, your scope of practice will be a little broader than when you practice in the states. Nurses who go with WMT see patients independently working off a protocol that we have developed. This can be a little nerve wrecking for nurses who have not come with us before because it is such a change from the practice that they are used to. Don’t worry….you will not be alone! We bring along some fabulous doctors who will be there to help you whenever you need it. Some nurses like to see patients along with a physician for a while to see what it’s all about and then start seeing patients independently when they feel more comfortable. Others just jump right in and ask questions when they have them. While there’s no doubt that you will be pushed outside your comfort zone, every nurse we have taken so far has really enjoyed the experience!
